The New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Electronics) programme is designed to equip students with the technical knowledge and problem-solving skills needed to build the systems that keep our world connected. You’ll learn how to design, develop, and maintain electronic circuits and technologies found in everyday life — from smartphones and computers to in-home devices. With a strong focus on practical application, students will tackle real-world engineering challenges and gain the confidence to evaluate and manage risks within real-life environments. Gain the essential knowledge needed to set up solid functions in the electronics engineering field. Learn about the design, development, and maintenance of electronics circuitry used in different types of equipment used in TV, radio, computers, smartphones, and IoTs. This knowledge prepares you for a successful engineering career in New Zealand and internationally.
- For Domestic Students
- NCEA Level 2*, and
- A minimum total of 48 credits at level 2 in four subjects including at least 12 credits in mathematics (preferably achievement standards in algebra, calculus or trigonometry), or
- equivalent qualifications (e.g. International Baccalaureate or Cambridge), or
- equivalent credits from appropriate trades training and/or demonstrated skills and experience; and
- including a minimum of 10 literacy credits at level 1 or higher (for those who achieved NCEA Level 2 before 2013)

- In addition to meeting the minimum entry criteria set out, for those applicants which English is their second language (including International students), overall Band Score (Academic) of 6.0 IELTS, with no individual score less than 5.5, or equivalent

Graduates of this New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Electronics Engineering Strand) (Level 6) programme will receive an internationally recognised engineering qualification accredited under the Dublin Accord, opening doors to career opportunities both in New Zealand and abroad. Throughout your studies, you’ll develop the practical skills and technical knowledge needed to confidently take on roles such as electrical engineering technician, electronics engineering technician, or systems support specialist. You’ll be prepared to work across a variety of industries, including telecommunications, manufacturing, automation, renewable energy, and electronics design.
