Financial Support
If you are experiencing financial problems which are affecting either your ability to study or your general well-being, please contact the Student Support Team. They will be able to offer assistance or refer you to a range of general and specialised support services available in your community.
Travel allowance
We understand that travelling to class can get expensive for our learners. For domestic students aged 15-24 years old, we may be able to reimburse you for your travel costs to and from class. This is reliant on your class attendance. Please get in touch with our Student Support to learn whether you are eligible.
Hardship
Are you struggling with unexpected costs? Make sure to get in touch with Student Support to see what kind of help we can offer to ease your financial pressures. This may look like food vouchers, transport top ups, emergency aid, or support from an external youth agency.
Study Link
Study Link provides financial advice and support to all tertiary students in Aoteroa. They can help with course fees, day to day costs, disability and childcare costs and more. If you’re a domestic student, you may qualify for a student loan or allowance to help pay for course-related costs or living expenses while you’re studying. Student loans and allowances are offered by StudyLink, and they assess your eligibility.
The two main payments that StudyLink offers include:
Student Loan – helps pay for your course fees, study materials and weekly living costs
Student Allowance – a weekly payment that can help with your living expenses.
There are certain criteria you’ll need to meet to be able to get each payment. If you’re studying part-time, you will be limited in what you can get unless you can be classed as a full-time student. Student Support is here to help you with your application, so make sure to get in touch with any concerns.
To find out if you’re eligible, head to their website and take the eligibility test.
