The Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 4) is designed for learners ready to take the next step towards higher education or employment, preparing you for success in academic study or the workplace. You’ll build essential skills in statistics, data handling, and critical thinking. Alongside academic preparation, you’ll deepen your understanding of your own qualities and rangatiratanga to confidently navigate your study and career pathways. You’ll also develop practical skills like presenting evaluative reports and enhancing your personal brand —key tools to stand out in both academic and professional settings.

Learners will study the following four courses for one academic semester (16 weeks).

CSEP4001 Statistics and Data Handling Project

This course provides learners with basic knowledge about, and skills in, statistics and data handling.

CSEP4002 Collaborative Pathways Project

This course gives learners the opportunity to gain insights into their qualities and the strength of their rangatiratanga as applicable to their study pathways.

CSEP4003 Employment Medium & Reflection/Aromatawai Portfolio

This course provides learners with the ability to present an evaluative report on job recruitment medium that have the potential to benefit the learner’s career.

CSEP4004 Personal Branding Evaluation

This course equips learners with the ability to improve their personal branding through research and self-evaluation, benefiting their future in study and employment.
